Watch the heartbreaking trailer for 'Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss'

Thursday would have been Juice WRLD's 23rd birthday.

It's probably not a coincidence that HBO chose Thursday to unveil the trailer for "Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss," a forthcoming original documentary film from Tommy Oliver premiering Dec. 16.

Juice (born Jarad Higgins) died Dec. 8, 2019, newly 21 years old. The "Lucid Dreams" star was pronounced dead at a hospital near Chicago's Midway International Airport, where he had suffered "a medical emergency" later identified as a seizure brought on by an accidental overdose of oxycodone and codeine.

The above trailer gives a glimpse into Juice's struggles with mental health, as did the trailer for his posthumous single "Wandered To LA" featuring Justin Bieber, out Friday.

Even more heartbreaking, in the "Wandered To LA" trailer, it is revealed that Juice "was already checked into rehab" and "scheduled to go" to rehab to address his drug usage prior to his tragic death.

"Fighting Demons," Juice's second posthumous album and fourth album overall, will be released Dec. 10.
