The Oscars take place this Sunday, and one of the nominees for Best Actor this year is Colman Domingo for his turn as the titular role in Rustin.

Now, A24 has released the first trailer for his next film, Sing Sing.

Domingo stars as Divine G, who is imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit. Divine G finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men, including a wary newcomer played Clarence Maclin, in this stirring true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors.

Sing Sing had its premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and will now play the South by Southwest Film Festival this month ahead of its newly announced July theatrical release date.

Currently, the film has just 14 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but critics say it is "a beacon of hope" and "a quiet declaration of art's redemptive powers".

The hope-infused trailer soaks up every inch of Domingo's brilliance while showcasing the stunning visual language of a film wishing to tell a redemptive tale.
