Winnie Harlow reveals how she began dating Lakers star Kyle Kuzma

Winnie Harlow nearly missed her chance at true love with Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma, thanks to Instagram's unreliable algorithm.

The America's Next Top Model alumna stopped by Tuesday's The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where guest host tWitch asked how she managed to meet Kuzma during lockdown last year.

"I got a DM a year prior from my boyfriend, and I'd never seen it," Harlow, 26, explained. "I don't know what the glitch in the system with Instagram is, but that never came up for me. A year later, at the top of quarantine, he DMed me again. He posted a picture of me in, like, an outfit. I was like, 'Oh, hi.' He shot his shot, you know. He slid in the DMs. So, that was cute."

The Canadian model added that the two finally met in Los Angeles after a month of constant FaceTime, "24 hours, every single day," and she has been in L.A. ever since. "That was a year ago, exactly," she said.

Harlow and Kuzma first began posting about each other on Instagram in late June of last year, and the photos have only gotten steamier from there, including mutually gooey Valentine's Day posts:

The Lakers were ousted by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs last week—simultaneously ending L.A.'s quest to repeat as champions and marking the first time in LeBron James's illustrious 18-year career that he did not make it beyond the first round of the playoffs.

While Kuzma is presumably bummed, he will have an entire summer with Harlow to lift his spirits.
