Lynda Carter isn’t happy Warner Bros. canceled Wonder Woman 3.
The original Wonder Woman, who played her in three seasons of TV series Wonder Woman from 1975-79, revealed her take on the studio’s move.
Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Carter says it’s up to fans to convince Warner Bros. to change course.
“I don’t think they want to do it unless there’s enough pressure from fans. I just don’t think they have the mind to do it. And I don’t understand that, because it seems to me that Wonder Woman is different from other characters.”
Patty Jenkins directed 2017’s Wonder Woman, as well as its sequel, 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984. Poor returns for that movie ($169 million globally) prompted studio bosses to ax a follow-up, however, and Jenkins has since moved on, with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron now in development.
Carter, though, will continue to champion Wonder Woman. “She’s not just a superhero. Her whole thing is about peaceful solutions. She’s not aggressive to be aggressive. It’s a different story. It’s about inner strength, outer strength. I don’t know why they tabled it, because it’s a great franchise.”
