Britney Spears teases murder novel she’s writing: ‘Her ghost gets stuck in limbo because of trauma’

Britney Spears is shifting her focus.

The 39-year-old pop icon has been using her Instagram to give a glimpse into how she is experiencing her ongoing conservatorship battle, but over the weekend, she shared that she's writing a novel:

The lengthy caption described the book's premise:

"I’m writing a book about a girl⁣ who was murdered … yet her ghost gets stuck in limbo because of trauma and pain and she doesn’t know how to cross over to the world she use to know !!!! After being stuck in limbo for three years, she is a ghost who thrives off of her reflection in her mirror for existence!!!! She has no one she can trust but something happens and she figures out how to cross over to the world where her family is !!!! Coming out of the limbo she has a decision to make … greet the same people who murdered her or create a whole new life !!!! She no longer needs her mirror … she found a portal by citing certain prayers constantly that give her the insight and gift to not be scared anymore and come out of limbo … but what I will leave to the IMAGINATION is what she does when she crosses over …… besides learning to write her name again !!!!⁣"

Spears' mention of the book's protagonist feeling stuck in trauma and pain doesn't feel coincidental.

Back on June 23, Spears provided a powerful 24-minute statement in Los Angeles Superior Court and detailed how she feels her conservatorship has harmed her.

"That’s why I’m telling you this again two years later, after I’ve lied and told the whole world 'I’m OK and I’m happy.' It’s a lie," the Grammy winner said at one point. "I thought I just maybe if I said that enough maybe I might become happy, because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth, OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day."

Elsewhere in the statement, Spears alleged abuse by those involved in her conservatorship and specifically cited "her ignorant father," Jamie Spears: "The control he had over someone as powerful as me—he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%. He loved it. I packed my bags and went to that place. I worked seven days a week, no days off, which in California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking."

In late September, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled that Jamie Spears be suspended as Britney's conservator of her $60 million estate. Since the conservatorship was court-ordered in 2008, the 69-year-old had been in control as either conservator or co-conservator.

Next up is a termination hearing set for Nov. 12, where it will be determined whether Spears' conservatorship can finally end altogether.

Spears hasn't performed since October 2018, though her longtime partner and new fiancé Sam Asghari has reportedly "encouraged her to think about performing again," according to People, but "it seems she's just not ready."
