Conan O'Brien has spat with Oscars statue in funny new award show promo

Conan O'Brien has managed to remain culturally relevant, and even to thrive, without having a talk show for years at this point. He's a touchstone for the ways in which celebrities can navigate the modern media landscape, having built a successful podcast and dropping popular YouTube clips. Of course, he's still got that old-school showbiz in him, and he's hosting this year's Oscars.

As part of the rollout to get people excited for that show, and Conan hosting, ABC has released a proper promotional ad for the occasion:

If Conan's stint hosting the Oscars this year is as funny as this promo, we're in good hands. As per usual Conan gives it his all to make what is an advertisement funny, and he does that while acting with an inanimate object.

This isn't Conan's first rodeo hosting an award show, having handled the Emmys in the past, so we're excited to see what he does.

The Academy Awards are happening Sunday, March 2. Oh, and in addition to Conan hosting, there will be awards handed out to actors, directors, and the below-the-line folks who deserve some love.
