Saweetie opens up about Quavo split: 'The world doesn’t stop for anybody'

Saweetie looks elegant, beautiful and powerful on W Magazine's newest cover, but the 27-year-old rapper, singer and songwriter proved that true power comes through vulnerability in the accompanying cover story by Lynn Hirschberg.

It turns out, the below Saweetie viral March 19 tweets proclaiming she had split from Quavo were sent from the set of this photoshoot:

"I've learned that the world doesn’t stop for anybody," Saweetie told Hirschberg. "And it's for sure not going to stop for me just because I got my heart broke. I was grateful to be doing the photo shoot. I was like, I can deal with all this later."

She later added: "Work is what I love most. What separates the greats from the pack is endurance. And resilience. I could give my attention to something that could drain me or I could focus on what would empower me."

The exes dated for a little more than two years after initially getting together in 2018. The now-defunct relationship between Saweetie and the Migos member was chronicled in a GQ feature last summer.

Saweetie has soared through the musical ranks since her debut single "ICY GIRL" was Platinum-certified. That was followed by 2019 EP ICY produced "My Type," which made her the seventh female rapper to enter the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019, as well as "Emotional" featuring Quavo.

The Los Angeles-based songstress's debut album is expected this summer, but she dropped her inaugural Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1 last month. Listen below.
