Sergio Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 to partner Max Verstappen . The Mexican driver was the first driver to be on par with Verstappen since Daniel Ricciardo . However, the 34-year-old has faced performance slumps in the past. Nevertheless, Perez was confident about securing a new contract with Red Bull for next season. Now, Christian Horner has refuted Checo’s comments.

Horner claimed that Milton Keynes was happy with its current set of drivers for the time being. Subsequently, Red Bull was not in a hurry to make a decision on its future pairing till the latter half of the 2024 season. Previously, Perez hinted that Red Bull was close to giving him an extension for the upcoming season.

We’re in a situation where we’re very happy with our two drivers, but don’t need to make a decision until much later in the year.

Christian Horner said, as reported by RacingNews365

The Red Bull team boss highlighted that Max Verstappen was on a long-term contract that extended till 2028. Moreover, Christian Horner praised Sergio Perez was driving exceptionally well with his future uncertain.

Max is on a long-term contract, and Checo is out of contract, but driving exceptionally well so far this season.

Christian Horner stated

Christian Horner has chosen to keep quiet about Red Bull’s offer to Carlos Sainz

Carlos Sainz has emerged as the hottest prospect in the drivers market for 2025. Sainz has been linked to many teams including Mercedes and Audi. Red Bull could consider signing the Spaniard to replace Sergio Perez. However, Team Principal Christian Horner believes it would be improper to discuss the details of the deal.

While talking about the same he told the media, that it would not be correct for Red Bull to comment on Sainz’s negotiations. The 50-year-old did not explicitly mentioned that Carlos Sainz was a top contender to replace Perez.

we have no idea if and what Audi have offered Carlos, who is a key driver that’s on the open market. But it would be improper to disclose what offers are made. That’s something that’s not been disclosed to us as to what offers have been made from other teams. Christian Horner said: Planetf1

Audi has given an ultimatum to Sainz. However, the 29-year-old chose to wait while carefully considering his future prospects. On the other hand, Red Bull has seemingly shown interest in resigning Perez while emphasizing that it was considering all options before making a decision.
