Since the start of the 2024 season, there have been several speculations in regard to Max Verstappen ’s possible move to Mercedes. The controversy surrounding Christian Horner , in addition to the ongoing power struggles and internal politics, has added even more fuel to the fire.

Naturally, a lot of team principals are focusing on the Dutchman. His father, Jos Verstappen recently left the room open for all the possibilities since he is particularly not happy with Horner’s controversy, many believe that perhaps Max Verstappen is considering the move. Amidst everything, Bernie Ecclestone has admitted that Verstappen is smart enough to not decide to leave Red Bull.

While talking about the same with the media he had the following to say.

He's too intelligent to do that. What would he gain? To go where It'd be silly to move. There's nowhere he could go where I think he would get exactly the same service as you get at Red Bull. Bernie Eccelstone said: Racingnews365

Red Bull has been continuously winning in F1 for a couple of years. With their aggressive challenger for this year, the RB20, they have no plans to slow down any time soon. Keeping all this in view, it will not be in Verstappen’s best interest to leave Red Bull.

Toto Wolff has dismissed the mega offer to Max Verstappen speculations

There have been many speculations going around about Max Verstappen’s potential move to Mercedes ever since the news of Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move came out. Multiple sources claimed about the meeting that might take place during the upcoming Miami GP weekend. Mercedes is planning on breaking all the records by offering a staggering £128m-a-year deal to the Dutchman, amidst all the noise, Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff has cleared the air.

While talking to the media, Wolff added the following.

No, that’s one of the rumours. People make up meetings, make up what’s happening with the drivers but these things should be behind closed doors and everything that’s been out there was not really the right thing. Toto Wolff told Reuters television

The ongoing unrest within the Red Bull team was the root cause for all the speculations. Wolff had also quite recently admitted that he would love to have Verstappen, however, now’s not the right time, as they would have to provide him with the car that matches his potential.
