Following the massive announcement during the Formula 1 off-season that Lewis Hamilton will be replacing Carlos Sainz at Ferrari in 2025, there were a lot of doubts regarding the Spaniard’s will and motivation to drive with the team this year. But, instead of being demotivated, Sainz has had his best-ever start to a season in F1.

The 29-year-old has beaten teammate Charles Leclerc in the first four out of five rounds of the season. Moreover, Carlos Sainz also obtained a race victory in Australia after missing the previous race in Jeddah due to appendicitis surgery. This brilliant form from the Spaniard has forced the 1997 F1 World Champion, Jacques Villeneuve to praise him.

Ever since his arrival in F1, Charles Leclerc has always been touted as one of the most naturally quick and gifted drivers on the grid. But, with all his speed, the Monegasuque has been beaten by Carlos Sainz at majority of the races this season.

Following the Spaniard’s impressive form, Jacques Villeneuve revealed the reason for it.

He’s definitely beating Leclerc. People are starting to realize he’s a serious aspirant. He’s very mature and dedicated, intelligent and works hard, which is making a difference. Talent alone is not enough.
