Red Bull has once again aced the third year of the ground-effect era. Milton Keynes’ drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have comfortably secured the top two spots in the drivers’ championship. Hence, the talks of Perez being ousted from Red Bull by the coming season have started diminishing. Helmut Marko explained that the Mexican driver would continue in the team if he had reasonable demands for 2025.

Dr. Helmut Marko had previously pointed out the ‘easy condition’ for Sergio Perez to secure a seat from 2025 onwards. Marko mentioned that until Perez continued to perform decently, he had nothing to worry about.

Additionally, until the Mexican had ‘reasonable conditions’, Red Bull had no reason to decline his demands. The team did not have anything to speak against the 34-year-old and his performance so far this season.

As long as Checo [Perez] is in as good a form as he is now and he comes with reasonable conditions for an extension, there’s really nothing to be said against him. Helmut Marko said, as reported by OE24.at.

Apart from this, the Red Bull advisor reflected on the positives that Perez brought to the team. The latter’s massive support from Mexico ensured that Mexican sponsors were available for Red Bull. The 80-year-old cleared that Perez’s demands were more heavy on the duration of the contract. Milton Keynes wouldn’t risk signing the driver for too long keeping in view the 2026 regulation changes.

In fact, he even brings Mexican sponsors with him, His demands are more about the duration of the contract. Helmut Marko noted.

Christian Horner claims Red Bull is ‘happy’ with its current driver lineup

Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen have showcased great teamwork by scoring multiple one-two race finishes. The duo continues to maximize results over the race weekends and help Red Bull score dominant victories. Christian Horner commented on the current driver lineup and claimed that the team was happy. However, the team principal didn’t want to rush into finalizing the drivers situation for the coming season.

It’s incredible that we’re at race five and there’s so much talk already about drivers for for next year, We’re in a situation where we’re very happy with our two drivers. But we don’t need to make a final decision about the lineup until much later in the year. Christian Horner said, as reported by planetf1.com.

The Englishman pointed out that Max Verstappen was locked with Red Bull with a long-term contract until the end of the 2028 season. Perez’s current contract will only see him race for the Austrian outfit until the end of this year. Regardless, Horner explained that Perez was performing exceptionally well so far this season.

So, obviously, Max is on a long-term contract anyway. Checo [Perez] out of contract this year, but he’s been driving exceptionally well so far this season Christian Horner concluded.

Red Bull’s dominant pace has been highly unmatched since the season’s beginning. Sergio Perez has closely followed Verstappen in second throughout the campaign. Hence, the Mexican driver will likely announce a contract extension with Red Bull. The next few months could make the picture clearer regarding Perez’s F1 future.
