McLaren has started the 2024 season in much better form as compared to the previous season. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have consistently scored good points over the race weekends. Hence, the team is currently in a comfortable third position in the constructors’ championship. However, Red Bull’s dominant pace has prevailed and disabled rival teams from scoring a Grand Prix win. Regardless, Norris believes that a victory is in the works for the British constructor.

Lando Norris recalled that during the season’s beginning, he had already predicted a race win against the Red Bulls this season. However, the 24-year-old did accept that a race win against Milton Keynes would not come easy for McLaren.

The Briton also pointed towards his P2 finish at the Chinese GP as evidence of the potential race win coming soon.

I have already said it, I don't need any more confidence. There's more evidence [from China], I said it at the beginning of the year that I think we can fight against Red Bull and we'll be able to get a win this year. It's not going to come easy. Lando Norris said, as reported by skysports.com.

The race win might not even come for a while. But, the right day, time, and favorable conditions suiting McLaren’s MCL38 could help the team score a race victory. Hence, the Briton had ‘100%’ confidence in his team to score the race win amidst the ever-developing pace from Woking’s challenger. However, Norris felt that on average the team wasn’t close enough to score a race win against Red Bull in China.

I don't think it will come for a while, but right day, right time, good conditions, things which suit our car a little bit more - 100 per cent I have the faith in the team and I have the faith in my ability to be able to pull it off. I don't think on average we're close enough for the time being. But I want to believe Lando Norris noted.

Lando Norris trying to ‘do better’ in having more ‘confidence’ in himself

Lando Norris’ strong commitment to scoring a race win for McLaren has been noticed since the beginning of the 2023 season. The 24-year-old has been pushing hard for his maiden victory in the pinnacle of motorsport. Hence, he opened up and mentioned that it was rare when he had faith in something. Norris faced issues with being confident about his capabilities or other similar issues.

It's not often I have faith in something, whether it's myself or my abilities or whatever like that sometimes. Lando Norris explained.

However, Norris asserted that he was trying to change himself when thinking about such things regarding his career. The Briton was gaining more confidence in what he and the team could achieve in F1. The 24-year-old reiterated his confidence in McLaren to secure a race win for the 2024 season.

But I'm trying to change, trying to do better and one of those things is having more confidence in what I can and what we can achieve, and one of them is by saying, 'I think we can win a race this year'. Lando Norris concluded.

The British team will bring in multiple updates to the MCL38 to hopefully score much better performances down the season. Woking has currently been performing a consistent performance and has secured a huge gap to Mercedes in fourth. Hence, the team is currently on the trajectory to finish in the third spot in the constructors’ championship.
