Lewis Hamilton is the name that is on the minds of people all over the world for his recent antics. He has dropped a huge bombshell by joining Ferrari in 2025 and while a lot has been said about it, former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher, has made it known that Hamilton did not join the Italian outfit to copy the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher.

Ralf being the younger brother of Michael, firmly believes, that Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari because every driver once in their career wants to drive for the Italian giant. Ferrari so far in its F1 history, has managed to amass 16 Constructors and 15 Driver’s World Championships.

Ralf Schumacher while shedding light on his assessment said, as reported by Sky Sports:

I think it could be the right choice for Lewis. There are many drivers who would like to drive a Ferrari before finishing their career and he is one of them. I haven't spoken to Lewis yet, but I don't think he does it because Michael did it. I think the has done everything that Ferrari represents in the history of Formula 1, to win another title.

The German with his detailed explanation, has made it quite clear that Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari was not at all prompted by Michael Schumacher. Moreover, has emphasized that it is every driver’s dream to race in a Scarlett-red Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton could break Michael Schumacher’s F1 record at Ferrari

Michael Schumacher won a highly impressive five world championships with the Ferrari F1 team, after that, his racing career kind of fizzled out. Looking ahead, when Hamilton joins the Fred Vasseur-led team in 2025, he will have the chance to become the outright F1 world championship record holder.

The Brit and Schumacher are currently tied on seven and if the former manages to secure an eighth, as a Ferrari F1 driver, it will then be remembered for decades to come. Moreover, it will most probably go down in the history of the sport as one of the greatest moments.

The 2025 F1 season is still a year away as this year’s campaign is approaching at the rate of knots. Lewis Hamilton has taken the place of Carlos Sainz at Ferrari and keeping this dynamic in view, it will be fascinating to see how the two drivers would act during the high-intensity on-track tussles during the 2024 F1 season.
