Max Verstappen , the reigning world champion, has been racing for the Red Bull F1 team since 2016. He has proved extremely dominant under the current set of regulations and has so far amassed three consecutive world championships.

Seeing the might of Max Verstappen, Red Bull’s technical director, Pierre Wache, has taken the time to shed light on what sets the former apart from the other nineteen drivers in F1. Verstappen won a highly impressive 19 races last year.

Moreover, he also broke several other records.

He loves racing, has insane talent and feels the limit of the car perfectly. Before I started working with him, I had never experienced a driver who was immediately on the limit on his first lap. Like us [engineers], he is an [like an] engineer because he is constantly looking for opportunities to improve the car. Pierre Wache said in an interview with racingnews365

The Frenchman has left no stone unturned in applauding Red Bull’s star driver. Moreover, Wache has taken the time to dwell on some fascinating things that in his opinion, make Verstappen the champion driver that he has become today.

Victory is ‘not enough’ for the prolific Max Verstappen

While Pierre Wache has showered immense praise on the reigning world champion, he has also shed light on how Verstappen demands a lot from himself as well as his team. The Dutchman has a very data-driven approach in F1.

The 26-year-old has a contract at Red Bull until the end of 2028.

Victory is not enough for him, he always wants more, just like the rest of the team. He doesn't rest after a victory so to speak, he keeps going. Pierre Wache further added in the same interview

During the ongoing 2024 F1 season, Max Verstappen has amassed two Grand Prix wins out of the possible three. He was on course to secure a Grand Prix win in Australia as well, but his progress was halted because of a rear brake issue which led to an early retirement. Next up on the F1 calendar is the Japanese Grand Prix, Verstappen won last year’s event by a handsome margin.
