Alex Albon is known for his candidness, but in a Sky Sports lie detector test, the Williams F1 star didn’t hold back when answering some tough questions about his upcoming 2025 season and his new teammate, Carlos Sainz.

The interview took a revealing turn when the host asked Albon if he thought he could outscore Sainz this season. Without hesitation, Albon said, “I think it’ll be close,” before being pressed for a clearer answer.

After a brief pause, albon confidently declared, “Yes,” making it clear that he’s aiming to outperform the Spaniard despite the challenge of competing for a mid-tier team like Williams.

When asked whether he’d win a race in 2025, Albon gave a quick “no,” but his future optimism shone through when the host pressed him about 2026. He replied, “Honestly, no, 2027 yes,” pointing to his belief that Williams will be more competitive in the coming seasons, with hopes of landing a race win in 2027.

The conversation took an even more personal turn when the host asked if Albon considered himself the team leader at Williams. “I don’t think there is a team leader this year,” Albon said, signaling the team’s emphasis on a more collaborative approach in 2025, as opposed to a traditional leadership hierarchy.

However, the most intriguing moment of the test came when the host inquired about Albon’s relationship with Carlos Sainz. “I don’t know him that well,” Albon admitted, revealing the somewhat awkward dynamic between the two drivers. But he quickly added, “We’re figuring each other out. We’re discovering ourselves towards each other.”

It’s clear that the two are still in the early stages of building their rapport, but Albon’s openness about it gives fans a glimpse into their evolving relationship at Williams.

As 2025 kicks off, all eyes are on Albon and Sainz as they face off for the first time as teammates at Williams. With a fresh perspective on their relationship, this candid interview reveals the kind of pressure Albon is under as he looks to prove himself against a seasoned driver like Sainz.
