This past Saturday, the unofficial holiday coined "A Day For Jake" was celebrating among various resorts across the entire globe. Here is a quick look at how it went down at the celebration of life for Jake in Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada.

Jake founded Burton Snowboards out of a Vermont barn in 1977 and dedicated the rest of his life to snowboarding. Burton describes him at their founder, the soul of snowboarding, and the one who gave us the sport we all love so much. He was married to Donna Carpenter who still owns and runs Burton snowboards, and was the father to three boys who are also involved in the company.

A native of New York and an east coast OG, Jake grew up in Cedarhurst, New York. Jake's high school education began in Massachusetts at The Marvelwood School, then he enrolled at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He was an avid skier and hoped to join the university's illustrious ski team, but his competitive skiing career ended after a serious automobile crash. After several years away from college, he resumed his studies at New York University, graduating with a degree in economics, and ultimately becoming an incredible entrepreneur.
