The University of Louisville track & field team has received recognition from the ACC for their outstanding performances at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational last weekend. Three athletes from Louisville were honored by the conference for their achievements.

Trey Allen and Jayden Ulrich were both recognized for the second time this season and received the ACC Field Performers of the Week awards. Cade DeWitt, a freshman, also received his second conference weekly award and was named the ACC Male Freshman of the Week.

Louisville is now one of two schools to win three ACC weekly honors in the same week, and the only school to achieve this twice this year. This recognition follows the honor received by Allen, Sophia Day, and DeWitt on December 5th.

Allen, a redshirt senior, won the elite section of the men’s high jump by clearing a final height of 2.22m. His mark of 2.24m from the KTCCCA College Opener in December currently ranks second nationally and first in the ACC. Allen is one of only two athletes in the country to clear a 2.22m bar this season, and the only one to do so twice.

DeWitt, a freshman, set a new school and freshman record in the men’s pole vault with a mark of 5.32m. He finished fourth in the elite section of the event. His mark stands third among freshmen nationally and second in the ACC.

Ulrich emerged victorious in the women’s shot put, achieving a season-best heave of 17.52m. Her performance set a new meet record and a new facility record at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Ulrich’s mark ties her for the sixth-best shot put performance in the nation and leads the ACC by more than a meter. It is also the third-best shot put performance in program history.

The Cardinals will now be competing in three meets as part of their first split weekend of the season. The PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic in Louisville will take place on Friday, February 2nd. Additionally, some athletes will be sent to participate in Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational and the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, both taking place from February 2nd-3rd.
