According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Chicago Blackhawks are open to trading forward Henrik Borgstrom.

Borgstrom originally joined the Hawks at last season’s trade deadline. The team then signed him to a two-year, $2 million contract on May 11, 2021.

However, Borgstrom’s time in Chicago has been underwhelming. He has played in just 12 of the Blackhawks’ 20 games this season due to time in COVID Protocol and a non-COVID illness. In those contests, the 24-year-old has just two points (one goal, one assist) while primarily filling a third-line role.

The Blackhawks are a top-heavy team when it comes to scoring. Only three players have eclipsed the three-goal mark — Alex DeBrincat, Brandon Hagel, and Patrick Kane. Borgstrom was expected to supplement the stat sheet in a middle-six role, but that scenario has not come to fruition.

Now, his lack of production, and potentially fit, may lead to an early exit from Chicago if the Blackhawks can find a trade partner. Henrik Borgstrom isn’t the only Hawks forward who may get a change of scenery either. Seravalli also mentions Dylan Strome as a trade target.
