Most Steeler fans haven’t loved what they’ve seen from offensive coordinator Matt Canada this year, and on Sunday, Antonio Brown added to the hate when he voiced his frustrations with the Pittsburgh playcaller on Twitter.
Brown posted the following strong opinions on the Steelers OC midway through the first half of their game against the Houston Texans:
“Matt Canada is a horrific combination of being not only the worst, but also the most predictable playcaller in the NFL.”
Woof. And that’s coming from a guy who never even played under Canada. A few minutes after that, Brown fired off another tweet detailing the Steeler shortcomings vs. the Texans and suggested the team would be better off with him calling plays.
Not a great look for the Steelers or their offensive coordinator.
Brown compares Matt Canada to Adolf Hitler
After throwing his name out there to potentially replace Canada due to the Steelers offense’s slow start to the season, Brown posted a photo of the Pittsburgh coordinator with a drawn-on Hitler mustache.
Not wanting to cause any confusion, AB provided some additional context, tweeting: “Adolf Canada.”
Last week, quarterback Kenny Pickett only completed half of his passes, and running back Najee Harris only rushed for 43 yards on ten carries.
Playing with the Steelers from 2010 to 2018, Brown accumulated 837 receptions and 11,207 receiving yards. His stats place him second in franchise history behind legendary wideout Hines Ward.
Despite his history with the team, it’s unlikely the Steelers come calling for Brown’s leadership skills anytime soon. The wide receiver who ended his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has made few positive headlines since leaving the league. Brown took over the Albany Empire of the AFL but his ownership fell apart in stunning fashion.
The AFL kicked Brown’s team out as Commissioner Chris Siegfried reported that Albany owed $21,000 in league assessment fees.
The Empire’s coaches and players are also threatening a lawsuit against Brown and his trust after their final paycheck ended up leaving their bank accounts after they had already posted.
