As a result of the Sun Devils joining the conference, the NCHC formulated a new schedule structure involving the locations of each school.

“The conference adopted a new schedule model rotation with three, three-team pods based on geography with teams guaranteed to play home and away series against the other two teams in their pod every season (eight games),” according to a press release issued by ASU.

In Arizona State’s group is Colorado College and the reigning 2023-24 national champions, Denver. ASU will play both teams four times each, twice on the road and at Mullett Arena, home of Sun Devil Hockey.

Making the jump to the NCHC, Arizona State will face some of the best teams in the nation as the conference is known as one of the premier leagues in all of college hockey. This season, the Sun Devils will face seven teams who played in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

On July 5, 2023, ASU Hockey originally announced the switch from being an independent program to entering the NCHC.
