Boise State has fired head coach Andy Avalos. The move was first reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel Sunday morning.

Avalos' firing comes after the Broncos defeated the New Mexico State Lobos 42-14 at home on Saturday night.

The former Oregon defensive coordinator (2019-20) played his college football at Boise and led the Broncos to a 22-15 overall record during his time as head coach. He also led Boise State to a 35-32 win in the 2022 Frisco Bowl over North Texas.

The Broncos are 5-5 this season and have two games left on the schedule against Utah State and Air Force.

This news comes on the heels of Texas A&M firing head coach Jimbo Fisher Sunday morning in the first notable move to start the next round of the coaching carousel.

There's also an interesting recruiting development on the heels of the Avalos firing.

2024 Burley (Id.) wide receiver and Boise State commit was in Eugene this weekend to visit Oregon for the Ducks game against USC. Bair is ranked the No. 40 player nationally, the No. 10 wide receiver and the top recruit in Idaho.
