It is Wednesday, January 26, 2022, and Cleveland Browns fans wake up to exciting news about three of the rookies who made a splash in the 2021 NFL season.

That is our top story in the Browns Nation news and notes for today.

1. 3 Browns Named To All-Rookie Team

3 of the 8 Browns’ draft picks were recognized by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) on their 2021 All-Rookie Team.

They are cornerback Greg Newsome II, linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, and wide receiver/running back Demetric Felton.

This is well-earned recognition for a trio that played great football in Year 1.

The PFWA named Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons as both its rookie of the year and its defensive rookie of the year.

Offensive rookie of the year honors went to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase.

Other AFC North players of interest named to the team include Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris and Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson.

2. Baker Mayfield Announces Hiatus From Social Media

Baker Mayfield hinted at this over the weekend after congratulating the winners of the NFL divisional round playoff games.

He is taking what appears to be a prolonged break from social media.

His Instagram post announcing this states:

“Getting off all social media for the foreseeable future.  Gotta do what’s best to focus on me, my family and loved ones. Appreciate all the support. Time to get right.”

Mayfield is now exactly one week removed from his shoulder surgery so he is likely using the time to attack his rehab.

3. East-West Shrine Bowl Is Coming Up

Though the NFL postseason is still in full force, a critical 2022 predraft event is returning next week after a one-year hiatus because of COVID-19.

It is the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl happening on Thursday, February 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The game will air at 8:00 PM EST on NFL Network.

Team practices formally begin on Saturday, January 29.

Despite being called the East-West Shrine Bowl, players/teams are not divided by geography this year.

The players are put on the positions and teams that are deemed to maximize their visibility and potential for the NFL audience watching.

Happy Wednesday Browns Fans!
