The Miami Dolphins have considered some noteworthy names for their defensive coordinator position, having already reportedly interviewed former NFL head coaches Brandon Staley and Leslie Frazier.

They are apparently going to add a very recognizable one to their list of candidates: Shula.

Chris Shula, the grandson of legendary Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula, will reportedly interview for the team's defensive coordinator job.

Shula started off his career in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers in 2015 and 2016 a as a defensive quality control coach.  However, he ended up coming over to the Los Angeles Rams when Sean McVay in 2017 when the latter was hired as the Rams' head coach.  Shula and McVay played college football together for the Miami University Redhawks.

Shult has spent the last seven seasons with the Rams in various capacities, although most recently as the pass rush coordinator and linebackers coach.  He started off as an assistant linebackers coach in 2017, thereafter holding the positions of linebackers coach, outside linebackers coach, defensive backs coach, and most recently pass rush coordinator and linebackers coach in 2023.

Shula is the son of David Shula, who was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals from 1992 to 1996.  His grandfather, Don Shula, remains the NFL all-time wins leader with 328 (347 including the postseason) during his quarter century tenure as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

The Shula name is mythical in the South Florida community.  It certainly wouldn't hurt to see it back inside the Dolphins' facility again.
