If you were in Tulsa, Oklahoma, over the weekend, you know that there were some serious and actually life-threatening winds rolling through. Meteorologists clocked some of those gusts at 100 miles an hour at times, causing significant damage in the area, including at the Tulsa football stadium.
Photos and videos from the area revealed a light post near the stadium was bent at the base and the goalposts on the field were mangled beyond repair, both of which will have to be completely replaced.
All over the area, trees were pulled up by the roots, business and road signs were torn out and thrown in all directions, pieces of roofs were ripped off, and many power lines were snapped, with over 167,000 people in Tulsa County losing power.
One local posted a video of what the winds sounded like from inside his house as the storm passed through.
But there's plenty of time for the University of Tulsa to get everything patched up on and around the football field and outside the stadium, as the Golden Hurricane and first-year coach Kevin Wilson don't kick off the 2023 football season until Aug. 31.
