The Delaware State Hornets (2-2) of the MEAC hosted the Merrimack College Warriors (2-2) of the Northeastern Conference.

The Hornets were coming off a tough loss to the Delaware Blue Hens of the Colonial Athletic Association. That game is called the Route 1 Rivalry and the Blue Hens have won all 11 previous matchups.

The Warriors were coming off an overtime loss to the Harvard Crimson. The Warriors have won the previous two matchups with the Hornets.

Hornets Recap

The Warriors jumped on the Hornets early with a 14-0 lead with two touchdowns. The Hornets responded with a 22-yard field goal by K Nathan Wilson. The score was 14-3 at halftime. In the third quarter K Nathan Wilson was the only scoring for the Hornets with a 26-yard field goal, The Warriors were able to tack on a touchdown and a safety.  In the fourth quarter the Hornets were able to cut the lead to 10 points with a three-yard touchdown run by RB Thomas Bertran-Hudson. The Warriors added a field goal to bring the final score to 26-13.

Hornets Defense

The defense had four players lead the team in tackles with six. LB Ronald Holmes, DB Jayden Estes, LB Aiden Weber and LB Brooks Parker all had good games defensively.

The Warriors were able to jump out early and frustrate the Hornets offense the majority of the game.
The Hornets should definitely have a better outing offensively against the Colonials.

The Delaware State Hornets (2-2) will host the Robert Morris University Colonials (0-3) of the Big South Conference on October 1, 2022 at 6:00pm (EST)
