Orienta Capital Partners are set to become the new majority shareholders of Serie A club Monza, which news outlets in Italy have described as the ‘end of the Berlusconi era’.

According to information from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Orienta, an Italian-based holding company, are set to buy shares ‘greater than 60%’ in Monza, which will earn them a controlling stake in the club.

Current ownership group Finnivest are set to retain a minority stake in Monza.

Finnivest is a holding company that was set up and formerly headed by the ex-Milan owner and former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi.

Finnivest completed their purchase of Monza in September 2018, and Berlusconi held the presidency until his death in June 2023.

Berlusconi had also brought former Milan CEO and vice-chairman Adriano Galliani with him to Monza. He still serves as Monza’s CEO and is set to remain with the club after the takeover, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Orienta Capital Partners’ acquisition of Monza has not yet been completed, but Thursday’s reports suggest that negotiations are progressing well and smoothly.
