Manchester United have been told that they have the best winger in world football after completing the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old was unveiled as United’s second signing of the summer earlier this week.

After four stellar years in the Bundesliga, Sancho completed his return to England, and Manchester, in a huge £73m deal, the fourth most expensive in Manchester United’s history. Only Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, and Romelu Lukaku have cost the club more.

Despite his fabulous stats for Dortmund, Sancho was scarcely used by Gareth Southgate during this summer’s European Championship – a decision now questioned by former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann, who also says that Manchester United now have ‘the best winger in world football’.

“I’ve rarely seen a winger who can beat his man so easily, he drops the shoulder and just walks past defenders,” Hamann told the Racing Post, via otbsports.com“Sancho could galvanise the likes of Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba at United too.

“Having watched him in the Bundesliga, he makes other players better, creating chances and pulling defenders out of position, and we saw glimpses of that in England’s quarter-final win against Ukraine at Euro 2020.

“I was surprised that he was on the periphery of that tournament. [Jadon Sancho] would be my first choice as a manager.

“In my view, not only is Sancho England’s best winger, he’s the best winger in world football and United fans should be very excited about his return to Manchester.”

Sancho is still on holiday following his involvement in the tournament but is set to return early in August, which means that he could make his first appearance for the club against Everton on August 7.

The Premier League curtain-raiser against Leeds on August 14, however, poses a more realistic date for his first start after several weeks away from football.
