DALLAS - Former NFL and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is irritated by the way his career is being covered by some media outlets and wants some satisfaction ...

So Dez wants to get in a boxing ring with ESPN shock jock Stephen A. Smith and Barstool founder Dave Portnoy.

"Funny thing is,'' Bryant wrote on Twitter, "they know which current and ex-athletes to target to build their (bleep) companies. ... 'Culture vultures.'' ...

"I’m on a mission to change all that (bleep) and they know it Bunch of (bleep).”

Barstool apparently recently made racially insensitive jokes while suggesting Bryant was guilty of a crime. In Smith's case, Bryant may simply see him as ESPN's biggest voice, and therefore responsible for the network's "targeting'' of athletes.

Smith - not surprisingly - backpedaled away from it all, using social media to announce that Bryant is "my brother.''

"Dez, I'm sad that you sent that tweet, my brother," Smith said . "For the record, to the audience out there, I've never had a problem with Dez Bryant, not one time. I love the X. I used to troll them when they were Cowboy fans but I never had an issue with Dez."

Smith has made a cottage-industry career out of being a (fake) "Cowboys hater.'' We wont bother to check back on a decade of his "coverage'' of Bryant and the Cowboys to confirm that he "never'' said anything negative about the receiver. (Though on its surface we find that to be a dubious claim.)

Bryant responded to Smith, saying, "My problem is not with you but I do plan on speaking my story on how I feel about a lot of things.''

We'll be honest here: "Speaking his story'' is a fine idea. Because Dez Bryant getting into a boxing ring against a couple of sportswriters ... will not end well for the couple of sportswriters.
