The Philadelphia Eagles have a brand new coaching staff in 2021 and so far that group is off to a brutal 2-5 start.

The defense just got torched by the Las Vegas Raiders offense Sunday and the offense did not do much better as quarterback questions loom around the franchise.

But no matter how the quarterback, in this case Jalen Hurts, plays, it is tough to win when giving up 33 points.

Jonathan Gannon is 38 years old and is in his first season as Eagles defensive coordinator.

In fact, it is his first defensive coordinator job in general.

His group is giving up over 26 points per game and veteran Fletcher Cox recently expressed some frustrations aimed at the first-year coach.

Cox talks about how he wants to be aggressive and not defending screens down the field.

That seems like a shot at Gannon and is not a good sign for the locker room moving forward.

Fletcher Cox Makes His Point Heard

It is rare for a veteran to call out a coach like this.

Perhaps Cox wants to shoot his shot in order to get traded to a contender before things get even worse.

He even acknowledges the fact that this is a new coaching staff in place so everyone is learning the ropes.

However, it has to be frustrating for an All-Pro veteran like Cox to play in a system where he feels like the coaching is not helping the team win.

Cox only has one sack so far this season and is barely getting in on tackles in general.

This is bad news for Gannon and his hope now is to not become a fall guy for the state of the team so early in his tenure.

His job status may come down to the job security held by first-year head coach Nick Sirianni.

If Sirianni is worried about his own job, others could lose theirs.
