Georgia Southern's Sun Belt title hopes received a significant boost on Thursday night. In the tenth meeting between Georgia State and Georgia Southern, the Eagles won their sixth-straight home game dating back to last season. The final score was 44-27 in favor of Georgia Southern

Clay Helton's team improve to 3-1 in conference play (6-2 overall) and take a share of the lead in the Sun Belt East. Georgia Southern secures bowl eligibility for the second consecutive year and their sixth time since moving to FBS.

Davis Brin's third game with at least three passing touchdowns this season

Georgia Southern QB Davis Brin turned in one of his best performances of the season in the Eagles' critical win. Brin completed 22 passes on 35 attempts for 334 yards with three passing touchdowns and one interception.

Brin has now thrown at least three touchdowns on three different occasions this season, all in victories. Brin has now thrown for a total of 2456 yards this season, leading the Sun Belt in passing yardage.

In both of their losses this year, Georgia State has turned the ball over three times

Darren Grainger threw two interceptions and lost a fumble on Thursday. Even with a career performance by running back Marcus Carroll where the Atlanta native accounted for 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns, the Panthers' ball security issues cost them dearly.

The Georgia Southern defense has forced seven combined turnovers in their last two outings. The Eagles have now forced 20 turnovers this season

999 Yards of Offense

The two teams combined for just a few feet short of 1,000 yards on Thursday night.

Georgia Southern's passing game accounted for 334 yards while the Eagles rushed for 118 yards. Darren Grainger threw for 157 yards while the Panthers' rushing attack totaled 290 yards.
