Drinking a beer and watching a college sports game on TV is an American pastime. And now, Iowa State Cyclones fans can help their team on the field while sipping their cold one at home or in the stands, thanks to Ames Lager.

West O Beer brewery in West Okoboji, Iowa and the We Will NIL collective have partnered to create Ames Lager, a beer created for Iowa State fans that will also help the Cyclones squads on the field.

The beer will be available in the late summer, just in time for the start of Cyclones football season, and a portion of the proceeds — from both can and draft beer sales — will go to the We Will collective, a group that helps provide Iowa State athletes with NIL deals.

West O Beer is a brewery located about three hours northwest of Ames, Iowa, where the University is located. The brewery’s owner, Matt Matthiesen is an ISU alum and is looking forward to supporting his school’s teams and student-athletes.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the partnership that has formed,” Matthiesen said in the announcement. “We Will’s mission, which is focused on giving back to the community, aligns perfectly with ours. We’re excited that this beer will directly impact student lives, the Ames community and beyond.”

For all the beer connoisseurs interested in Ames Lager, the brewer says it will “present a straw gold color with a light body. The flavor will be balanced with mild malt flavors and subtle finishing hops.”

Most importantly, it will be “perfect for the best tailgating in the country.”
