LOS ANGELES — Tuesday, Iowa All-American guard Caitlin Clark was awarded the John R. Wooden Award that is presented annually to the best women's collegiate basketball player with great on-court success.

Clark was in tremendous company as Indiana forward Mackenzie Holmes, South Carolina forward Aliyah Boston, Stanford forward Cameron Brink and Villanova forward Maddy Siegrist were each selected as finalists.

Indiana and Holmes in particular had a fantastic season as the senior led the Hoosiers to a 28-4 overall record alongside the talent of graduate student guard Grace Berger and junior guard Chloe Moore-McNeil among a group of talented transfers and freshmen class.

Holmes averaged 22.3 points shooting 68 percent from the field and also led the Hoosiers with 7.3 rebounds per game and 58 total blocks.

The Gorham, Maine native won a slate of awards this season including the program's first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and AP First-Team All-America, first team All-Big Ten, etc.

West Des Moines native Clark averages 27.8 points per game and 7.1 rebounds for Iowa. She's known for her deep three pointers that resulted in 140 made triples on the season including some long ones in the NCAA title game versus LSU.

Clark as one can imagine has earned her own impressive slate of awards this season including the Naismith Trophy, AP Player of the Year and Big Ten Player of the Year among others.

That's a wrap on the college basketball season as all the award shows will soon come to a close. Both Clark and Holmes look to reload for a great run next season in the Big Ten.
