Jackson State remains undefeated in the SWAC as they secured a 67-58 victory against a pesky Prairie View A&M squad.   Keshun Lucket scored 19 points with three assists, and Miya Cump posted 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals in the win.

The 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, Angel Jackson, had a "Block Party" of four blocks and added eight points and a steal as she controlled the paint, especially as Williams sat with early foul trouble.

The Lady Panthers opened with an early 10-4 lead during the quarterfinals of the 2024 Starry SWAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

Ryann Payne led Prairie View with nine points and kept JSU off-balance for most of the first period.

Jackson State stormed back from being down by nine points in the first quarter. Maya Crump and Keshun Lucket began to figure out the PV defense and scored 15 of 25 second-quarter points for the Lady Tigers.

Jackson State would capture its first lead of 27-25, with 4:13 remaining before halftime. The Lady Panthers eventually trailed 37-28 going into intermission.

Tomekia Reed's team had an 11-point lead before going on a 4:47-minute scoring drought. Prairie View mounted an 8-0 rally as the third quarter ended, 49-44.

The Lady Panthers struggled to break Jackson State's strong defense in the fourth, managing only 12 points in the paint in the second half. Eleven second-chance points off six offensive rebounds helped keep the game close for Prairie View. Ultimately, Jackson State wasn't relinquishing the lead and won 67-58.

Ryann Payne led the Prairie View with 19 points, three rebounds, and a pair of steals. Mik Hutchinson notched 12, and Amaur Williams recorded 10 points in the loss.

The Lady Panthers scored 30% from the floor, compared to the Lady Tigers' 41%. Jackson State must resolve how to avoid another slow start, as they trailed for 14 minutes in the first half. On Friday, they will meet the winner of the Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Alabama A&M game.
