James Harden’s split from the Houston Rockets was messy, dramatic, and rather troublesome for the Rockets, who have been among the worst teams in the league since his departure.

And while many are still putting the finger of blame at James, famous American Actor Jamie Foxx took a different stance, coming to his defense in an appearance on ESPN’s Sports Center.

“I don’t think James Harden is thinking about an MVP. James Harden is thinking about a ring. These guys want to win a ring and they’ll do whatever they want, they’ll do whatever they can to win it all of the other stuff that we talk about is fodder.

That’s where no matter what we say that that would be to me what James Harden is chasing and fighting right now, and I don’t think it’s any disrespect to the team.

You gotta understand, these guys are human. These guys are young and what’s interesting about basketball we keep more on our NBA basketball players than any other sport.”

There is no denying that Harden did the Rockets a little dirty. He didn’t just demand a trade: he almost literally refused to play, instead choosing to spend time at strip clubs and parties while distracting his teammates.

Still, it’s hard to blame the guy for wanting more. And while some of his actions through the exit process definitely deserve some criticisms, he ultimately did what he felt was best for him.

For Harden’s sake, let’s hops it results in a title.
