LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is the heavy favorite to be awarded the Heisman Trophy on Sunday, and he did not have to look far to get some advice on how to deal with the whirlwind experience.

Daniels said Friday that former LSU Heisman winner Joe Burrow had texted him the day before to offer some advice on dealing with the Heisman experience. Burrow told Daniels to “be yourself” for the ceremony and surrounding media hype in New York.

Burrow made a massive impact at LSU in his only season there, and it is quite clear he is still close to the program. That is a great thing for Daniels to be able to lean on in what is one of the biggest weeks of his life so far.

Daniels is widely expected to claim the Heisman when it is awarded on Sunday evening. The LSU quarterback threw for 40 touchdowns and rushed for 10 more in a dominant campaign for the Tigers.
