The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team is gearing up for its first Southeastern Conference game of the season against Arkansas. The game will take place on Thursday, January 4th at 7 p.m. ET at Rupp Arena.

Kentucky, currently 7-7 on the season, has won five of its last seven games and enters conference play on a three-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 72-59 victory over Samford, with senior forward Ajae Petty leading the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Petty has been a standout player for the Wildcats, recording seven double-doubles in nonconference play. She ranks second in the SEC in field goal percentage and 10th in the nation in rebounds. Petty leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Since returning from the Paradise Jam tournament, Kentucky has seen increased scoring from multiple players, including Petty, Maddie Scherr, Amiya Jenkins, and Saniah Tyler. The team is averaging 16.4 assists per game since the overseas trip.

The Razorbacks come into the game with a 12-3 record and a four-game winning streak. They are led by Taliah Scott, who is averaging 23.0 points per game. Arkansas is known for their ability to shoot the three-pointer, averaging 9.3 per game, which ranks them 16th in the nation.

In their all-time series, Kentucky holds a 26-15 advantage over Arkansas. The Wildcats have won 12 of the last 14 matchups between the two teams.

Fans attending the game can enjoy the halftime performance by the 24-time national championship UK cheerleading team. Additionally, free parking will be available in the High Street lots for all fans attending the women’s basketball game.
