AC Milan will play their first Champions League game in seven years at Anfield tomorrow night when they take on Liverpool.

The Rossoneri will certainly feel like a familiar opponent for Liverpool but in actual fact the two sides have only met twice in European competitions, and that was the 2005 and 2007 Champions League finals, which ended in one trophy each. To get the latest team news from the Reds’ camp, we spoke to Ste Carson from Empire of the Kop.

Ciao, Milanista – I come in peace – and am here to extend the Reds’ welcome to you ahead of the upcoming Champions League clash between our two great clubs.

As a form of match preview, SempreMilan have asked me to provide their readers with an update on the Liverpool squad and who may be likely to feature on Wednesday night.

The Reds were dealt a significant blow over the weekend as young midfielder Harvey Elliott suffered a serious injury in our 3-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road, leaving him needing surgery on his ankle.

The teenager had taken us fans by storm this season, earning three consecutive Premier League starts by Jurgen Klopp – including one against Champions League title holders Chelsea.
Aside from Elliott, Liverpool don’t have many real injury concerns.

Roberto Firmino is a doubt, but resumed training during the international break – that being said, Diogo Jota is successfully wrestling the Brazilian out of a regular spot in the starting team.

Neco Williams and Takumi Minamino have both suffered fitness problems of late, but are yet to be utilised this season. Everyone else, as far as we know, is fit to play.

Liverpool are likely to name what many fans believe to be our strongest possible XI against Milan in: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk,, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mane.

Good luck and may the best team win.
