The first Hawkeye trailer has been dropped before its November release.

Marvel has given us our first official trailer for Hawkeye. Jeremy Renner is returning as Clint Barton, and he’s joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. She’s a master archer and a Hawkeye fan who goes on to become Hawkeye in the comics. Check out the trailer below:

The first trailer is an interesting look at how Barton and Bishop will get paired together. Barton is trying to treat his family to a nice Christmas in New York. When someone usurps his Ronin monicker to start terrorizing bad guys, Barton goes to find who it is. He finds Bishop, the self-proclaimed “best archer in the world.” From there, the two seemingly team-up. The Christmas setting makes the show seem like it’s going for Die Hard vibes. Paired with the odd-couple dynamic of Barton and Bishop, the show seems like a departure from what we’ve had in MCU series so far.

There are some interesting developments we get from the first trailer. Barton can be seen wearing hearing aids, meaning we may get an adaptation closer to the comics where the character is deaf. Steinfeld looks great as Bishop and brings a youthful edge as Marvel gets ever closer to their own Young Avengers. Is Barton a strong enough character to carry the show? Here’s hoping Bishop and Echo, played by Alaqua Cox, are given plenty of screentime to develop. I don’t think seeing Barton be annoyed with a young protege is going to make for entertaining viewing for a whole season.

Other exciting developments include the introduction of comic-fan-favorite Lucky the Pizza Dog and the creation of Rogers: The Musical. A low-budget musical version of the original Avengers story? That might save this whole thing.

Marvel’s Hawkeye begins streaming on Disney Plus on November 24, 2021.
