The Miami Hurricanes have been trying to get back on top of the college football world for two decades. One thing the program has going for them is recruiting. It isn’t hard to convince players to come to Miami, Florida, to play football. Despite the recent woes, it is a historic program. The program landed another massive recruit, four-star tight end Luka Gilbert.

Miami Hurricanes Land TE Luka Gilbert

The Hurricanes won a fierce recruiting battle with Michigan, Ohio State, and Kentucky. According to On3, he was favored to go to the Buckeyes but decided against it. He is a top-300 recruit, and ESPN has him as the second-ranked tight end in the 2025 class. Gilbert had this to say about his decision.

“I just think after a long thought process and after my visits I was thinking about all the different possibilities and different places that I could go. And it just really sticks out to me that Miami feels like home every single time I’m there. They treat me like I’m their very own family, and it’s really a blessing to be part of this program now.”

As with many recruits, it is all about the relationships that are formed between the coaches and the players. Gilbert felt like Miami was home and decided this was where he wanted to play.

Miami 2025 Recruiting Class

It is still very early in the cycle, but the Miami Hurricanes currently have a top-15 class in the nation for 2025. Gilbert is the fifth four-star recruit to commit to the program. He joins a class that already includes a four-star quarterback, offensive tackle, running back, and wide receiver. It may take some time, but Miami is building a potentially lethal offense.

The Hurricanes have been the butt of many jokes for years in the ACC. Can they continue to build this program and make the College Football Playoff?
