In a nail-biting match, the University of Louisville women’s tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Middle Tennessee. The match took place on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Louisville started the match by dropping the doubles point, as Middle Tennessee claimed victories on courts two and three. Alessia Truden and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt defeated Louisville’s Jamilah Snells and Allie Gretkowski 6-1, while Sana Garakani and Eloise Swarbrick secured the point for Middle Tennessee with a 6-4 victory over Berta Miret and Lillian Mould.

In singles competition, Louisville fought back and earned the first point when Elena Noguero defeated Schmidt 6-2, 6-4. Gretkowski followed suit with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Swarbrick. However, Middle Tennessee managed to even the match at 2-2 with a hard-fought 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory by Garakani over Snells on court one.

The Cards regained the lead on court two, where Lika Peresypkina defeated Cassidy Mataia 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. However, Middle Tennessee staged a comeback on the final two courts. Ilaria Sposetti edged past Miret 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 on court four, while Lena Peyer sealed the deal for Middle Tennessee with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Germany Davis on court three.

Despite the tough loss, Louisville demonstrated resilience and fought until the very end. The team will undoubtedly learn from this experience and come back stronger in their future matches.
