The Arizona Cardinals selected Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth overall pick of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, landing themselves a much-needed weapon for Kyler Murray.

Harrison was widely viewed as the best receiver in this year’s draft class, a class that also includes LSU’s Malik Nabers and Washington’s Rome Odunze.

A former NFL executive has told the NFL Analysis Network that the Cardinals have picked up an absolute stud in Harrison.

“This is exactly the player the Cardinals have been needing,” the exec said. “Kyler Murray is just fine as their franchise quarterback. Getting him Marvin Harrison Jr. will change everything. Within the next two years, Harrison is going to be a top three wide receiver in the NFL. He’s that good and he’ll develop and produce that fast.”

Arizona badly needed help at receiver after losing Marquise Brown to free agency and trading disappointing former first-round pick Rondale Moore.

Prior to selecting Harrison, the Cardinals had Michael Wilson and not a whole lot else at wide out, so now, Murray should have a terrific piece at his disposal in the aerial attack.

Harrison is coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign in which he caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The 21-year-old, whose father is a Hall-of-Fame wide receiver himself, arrived at Ohio State in 2021, but did not break out until his sophomore campaign when he hauled in 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 scores.

Arizona went just 4-13 this past season. We’ll see if adding Marvin Harrison Jr. into the mix can result in a better outcome for the Cardinals in 2024.
