The No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team is set to begin its 2024 SEC Opener on the road against No. 8 Florida (10-6), Friday night at 5:30 p.m. CST at Condron Family Ballpark.

Entering the SEC schedule, the Texas A&M baseball team stands as one of only two undefeated teams in college baseball.

With a flawless 17-0 record, the Aggies are off to their best start since 2015 and the third time in program history. Heading into the weekend, the Maroon & White stand as one of only two remaining undefeated teams in Division I.

Friday's game marks the 28th matchup between the Aggies and Gators. With Texas A&M leading the all-time series 15-12 and securing two consecutive victories, this weekend's showdown will be the third Top 10 matchup between these SEC rivals.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle, the Maroon & White have achieved 14 SEC series wins, tying with Florida and Tennessee.

Starting the week as a unanimous Top 5 team, Texas A&M has gained ground in all major polls, ranking as high as No. 3 in Perfect Game's Top 25 and securing top-five positions in other rankings.

The Aggies' pitching staff has been stellar in 2024, leading the nation in ERA (2.01), shutouts (6), and WHIP (1.00), while also excelling in various other pitching categories.

In terms of offense, Texas A&M ranks among the top teams in walks, on-base percentage, runs scored, home runs, and scoring. Outfielders Braden Montgomery and Jace LaViolette have been standout performers, combining for an impressive 16 home runs and 56 RBIs, establishing themselves as one of the most dynamic duos in college baseball.

On Thursday LaViolette expressed his excitement,  “If we can play the game better than they can, then we should have a pretty good outcome and that’s what we’re worried about.”
