Roger Federer says he’s not planning on making any ‘silly decisions’  and just wants to put the Halle disappointment behind him and look forward to Wimbledon.

Federer failed to reach the quarter-finals of Halle for the first time in his career this week, losing to Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

It comes after the 20-time Grand Slam Champion withdrew from Roland Garros, despite winning his third round match, in order to protect his fitness for grass season.

The Swiss ace hasn’t played much tennis in the last 16 months due to double knee surgery, and was hoping that Halle would provide the match practice on grass needed before the Wimbledon Championships.

His biggest disappointment from Halle, however, doesn’t appear to be the result but his admittedly negative attitude in the third set, which he says he has been struggling to understand, but won’t happen again.

“The good thing is that I know it will not happen the next time around,” Federer said.

“And the next time, and the next time that I’m going to be on court. I think that’s also the reason I wanted to take the time between the match and the press conference to truly understand why I felt this way, speak to Ivan [Ljubicic] a little bit and just figure it out.”

But Federer, who will soon turn 40, says he will not make any rash decisions and will focus on the challenge ahead – a successful campaign at the All England Club.

“And then, straight away, head up, look forward, don’t take any silly decisions right now. Just stay positive and then we take it on to the next goal which is clearly Wimbledon.”
