The Green Bay Packers have added another piece to their defensive coaching staff. According to Aaron Wilson, who covers the NFL for KPRC2, new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has hired his former co-defensive coordinator at Boston College, Sean Duggan, to be a defensive assistant with the Packers.

Track record

Duggan is 30 years old and played college football at Boston College as a linebacker — he was a team captain in 2014. Following his college career, he immediately started coaching as the Boston College graduate assistant.

He spent time coaching linebackers at Hawaii and UMass before getting another graduate assistant job at Ohio State under Hafley in 2019. When Hafley got the Boston College head coaching job, it was automatic for Duggan to come back to his alma mater.

Sean Duggan was the linebackers coach for three seasons before being promoted to co-defensive coordinator last year — in addition to his LB coach position.

Role

In Green Bay, Sean Duggan will have his first NFL job. The Packers hired former Miami Dolphins assistant Anthony Campanile to be the linebackers coach and run game coordinator, so Duggan presence will be helpful in that area as well.

He is the second former Boston College assistant who follows Jeff Hafley to Green Bay. Vince Oghobaase, who was BC's defensive line coach, will be the Packers' assistant defensive line coach under Jason Rebrovich, who got promoted from pass rush specialist to defensive line coach.
