No, not that Jordan Dingle. He plays football for Kentucky already.
On Friday afternoon, Penn guard Jordan Dingle reportedly entered the transfer portal. The 6-foot-3 junior averaged 23.4 points per game and he was the second-leading scorer in college basketball, making him a significant addition to portal free agency.
Big Blue Nation's eyes instantly pop when they see anyone dropping over 20 points a night, but when they find out why the Wildcats could be a landing spot for the guard in the 2023-24 season, there could be some salivation.
Head coach John Calipari is all about keeping it in the family. Current UK guard Adou Thiero is the latest legacy recruit to join the fray, with current prospect Karter Knox perhaps being in line to becoming the next. Dingle is the son of Dana Dingle, who played for UMass in 1996, when a certain Calipari was the head coach of the Minutemen.
Connections are easy to find, but something like this could actually turn into something, given Calipari's willingness to offer other legacy products in the past. Since the report of Dingle's entry, other Power 5 schools have been linked, with Travis Graf mentioning Indiana and Washington as the first two known options.
Dingle played in 79 games for Penn, averaging 19.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG and 2.3 APG. He's a 34.4-percent 3-point shooter and has shot 79.2 percent from the free-throw line. He's currently testing the draft waters, but with the clear interest brewing, a return to school could be in order.
With Kentucky putting all of its eggs in Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson's basket, it's unclear just how interested it'll be in other options until that becomes sorted. Reports have indicated that a decision from the Wolverine big man could be coming as soon as next week.
