It’s fair to say that 2020 was a simply disastrous season for the Philadelphia Eagles and one that fans of the team would want to instantly forget. Fortunately a new season, bringing with it a sense of opportunity, is on the horizon and now is the right time to take a look at what bets might take your fancy.

Rightly or wrongly, a lot of the blame for last season was placed on QB Carson Wentz, not least as his immense $128m contract hasn’t been repaid in terms of the displays put in by the North Carolinian. That is now something of a moot point given Wentz has now been traded to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third round draft pick plus a conditional 2022 second round pick.

When it comes to bets for the 2021 season there are a fair few reasons to check Philadelphia Eagles odds today, especially as they relate to three bets we think you should consider making during the offseason. With preseason fixtures just a matter of weeks away and the new season offering redemption for new coach Nick Sirianni.

Philadelphia Eagles Win Total – 6.5 (-150)

Yes Philadelphia only managed four regular season wins in 2020, and even managed to lose seven of their last eight, but this was a blip in relation to recent years.

The three previous campaigns ended with postseason action and life under new management and a new starting QB, in the shape of Jalen Hurts, could be the start of a return to form.

Philadelphia to Make the PlayOffs (+260)

This seems a reasonable punt. Injuries, and issues relating to Wentz, played a big part in the Eagles finishing in last place in the NFC East and while there is a lot of work to be done, making the playoffs is by no means an unreachable peak.

Over the course of the past 21 seasons the Eagles have made it to the playoffs on 13 occasions, so in many ways the odds are very much in their favor to repeat the trend.

Philadelphia to Defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 (+170)

The Eagles begin the new season on September 12th with a trip to the Mercedes-Benz stadium to take on the Falcons and currently, unsurprisingly, they are the underdogs.

We believe a decent bet to take is on a win for the traveling side, not least as Atalanta had a similarly appalling season in 2020, with a 4-12 record, and as such things are relatively evenly matched.

Indeed this opening game fixture looks likely to be quite an interesting encounter with first-year coaches, Sirianni and the Falcon’s Arthur Smith taking charge of their first games.

The last time the two teams pitched up against each other in the opener, back in 2018, the Eagles won 18-12 and we’d back a similarly tight win for The Iggles.

There is a history of close encounters between these two but in all honesty the Eagles are historically a much better bet in this one.
