The Indiana football program is in the middle of an aggressive coaching search to replace Tom Allen, but with each day that passes, some potential candidates are dropping off of IU’s coaching board.

Following the news of Colorado offensive coordinator Sean Lewis leaving the Buffs to head to San Diego State, another name that had been floating around addressed the potential rumors of him heading to Bloomington.

On Tuesday, former Mississippi State and Florida head coach Dan Mullen said he would not be heading to Indiana.

“It’s a great compliment … now that’s supposed to be the next stop I’m going to. I’m not going to Indiana, I’ll just share that with you right now,” Mullen said on the Dan Dakich Show. ” … I’m committing back to ESPN.”

Mullen spent this season as an analyst at ESPN and now appears to be staying in the broadcasting lane.

Mullen had previously spent 13 seasons on the sidelines, totaling a 103-61 record.

The Indiana football program fired Tom Allen on Sunday after seven seasons. Allen totaled just a 3-24 record in the last three seasons in Big Ten play.

The Hoosiers are coming off of a 3-9 season and finishing last in the Big Ten as the only one-win team in the conference.

Indiana hasn’t made it to a bowl game since 2020 and has not won a postseason game since 1991.
