The Las Vegas Raiders want to add young talent to their roster through the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Raiders put together an impressive 2023 draft class and are now looking to add more players who will become their core. Under Coach Antonio Pierce and new General Manager Tom Telesco, the Raiders hope this new regime can bring another Lombardi Trophy.
Pierce established a culture behind their defense when he took over midseason, as it carried them to victories at times. They could be looking to add more players to that strong defense, specifically off the edge.
One of those players could be Washington defensive end Bralen Trice. A two-time First-Team All-Pac 12 member, Trice was one of the best defensive linemen in college football in the last few seasons.
Trice finished his Huskies career with 101 total tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and 18 sacks. He and fellow Washington edge rusher and NFL hopeful Zion-Tupuola-Fetui formed one of the best pass-rush duos in college football.
Trice is a massive presence off the edge. He stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 274 pounds. He has a wide frame and great length. He shows power in his lower body when he comes off the snap. He can move exceptionally well for his size.
Trice is an impressively agile pass rusher. He can convert speed-to-power well and does a nice job disengaging from blocks.
Trice made big plays in the most significant moments. He had two sacks in Washington’s College Football Playoff Semifinal game vs. Texas and generated six pressures with four tackles against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
According to Pro Football Focus, Trice generated 80 total pressures in 2023. He was PFF’s 12th-highest-rated edge rusher in the country and second in the Pac-12 behind only UCLA’s Laiatu Latu.
Trice is a good pass rusher but needs to improve as a run defender. He has the size and IQ capable of being reliable against the run in the NFL, but it needs to come together. He moves well but is not very quick and relies on his size.
Trice is projected to be a late-first or early-second-round selection. If the Raiders are looking to add a defensive lineman who can play off the edge or on the interior, Trice may be a good fit.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
