The Nevada Wolf Pack wasted no time finding a replacement for the fired Ken Wilson.

Per a report from Eric Henry of 247Sports and Horns247, Nevada will make Texas co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jeff Choate the program's next head coach.

Choate has head coach experience, spending four years in that role with Montana State from 2016 to 2020. Choate was 28-22 in that span with two appearances in the FCS playoffs.

Allowing 17.5 points per game this season, Choate is credited as helping turn Texas into the #13 scoring defense in the nation in 2023.

In the era of early signing day (which is December 20) it makes sense that a program like Nevada would want to move quickly. We are talking about a program that has won four games in two years, after all.

Nevada will open the 2024 season on August 31 at Troy.
