Former Colorado wide receiver Xavier Weaver has found an NFL home following the NFL Draft and even has a nice guaranteed payday to look forward to.
Weaver was not selected in the NFL Draft this week. However, NFL analysts and former players will note that, for players, sometimes it’s best not to get picked and have your choice in team rather than be a seventh rounder. For Weaver, hopefully that’s the case, as he’s found a landing spot for next season.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Weaver is signing a deal with the Arizona Cardinals with a chunk of guaranteed money in there.

“Former Colorado WR Xavier Weaver is signing with the #Cardinals on a deal that includes $255,000 guaranteed, per his agents,” Pelissero wrote on Twitter Sunday evening.
Xavier Weaver enjoyed a very productive college career spanning stops at South Florida and Colorado. He provided four good years for the Bulls, recording over 100 yards each of his first two seasons before exploding for just over 700 in each of his second two seasons.
With such strong production and experience, Deion Sanders and Colorado came calling to make him part of their first and expansive transfer portal class. Weaver was one of the stars of that group, serving as the steady top option for Shedeur Sanders in the passing game.
He led the Buffaloes in receiving yards in 2023 with 908, a career-high for him despite the jump to a larger conference. Strong numbers against a very difficult Pac-12 schedule — and on a team that largely struggled against said schedule — meant eyeballs from the NFL on Weaver. Now, he’s officially a Cardinal.
Weaver played high school football at Orlando Christian Prep (Fla.) where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,860 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Weaver isn’t the only wideout headed to the desert, either. The Cardinals also used the No. 4 overall pick on Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Harrison was one of the most coveted prospects in the draft. He was a unanimous All-American his sophomore and junior seasons, winning the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver last fall. He also earned a trip to New York as a Heisman finalist.
